A new ‘Dragon Ball Super’ movie is arriving in next year

Dragon Ball Super is getting its second ever film sometime next year, Toei Animation reported on Saturday. The declaration of the new film came on Goku Day — May 9 in light of the fact that the Japanese character for five and nine can be read similarly likewise to the character’s name — which serves as a celebration day for the whole Dragon Ball universe.

As per Toei Animation’s declaration, the new film will occur in the Dragon Ball Super piece of the course of events, making it some portion of the Dragon Ball Z spin-off arrangement which appeared in 2015. The film won’t be an immediate spin-off of 2018’s Dragon Ball Super: Broly, the arrangement’s last dramatic delivery, which was met with record-breaking box office returns.

Toei additionally reported that Dragon Ball arrangement maker and long-lasting creator Akira Toriyama is working intimately with the creation group on the new film. Toriyama has dealt with everything, “from the magnificent story composition, to the character design, to the lines of the script,” Toei said in a press release. All of this collaboration has resulted in what Toei calls a “Dragon Ball movie unlike any other in its history.”

Tragically, none of that gives us much detail on what is the issue here. Also, it appears to be the group needs to stay mysterious. The best clues we got came from Toriyama himself, who discharge a letter to fans about the film where he said:

I shouldn’t talk too much about the plot yet, but be prepared for some extreme and entertaining bouts, which may feature an unexpected character.

We’ll be charting through some unexplored territory in terms of the visual aesthetics to give the audience an amazing ride, so I hope everybody will look forward to the new movie.

While the entirety of this is still pretty cryptic, the possibility of a new style and an surprise character is unquestionably an enticing proposition for the Dragon Ball arrangement’s first film in quite a while. Yet, it appears we’ll need to stand by until somewhat nearer to the film’s 2022 delivery. Obviously, another outstanding question concerning the film is whether it will hit American theaters in 2022, or if that delivery date just applies to the Japanese market.
