WWE breaks both viewership and All-Time Gate records

WWE declared today that the 2023 Royal Rumble, which was held at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, set records for both revenue and audience attendance.

With gate receipts of more over $7.7 million, the event broke the previous Royal Rumble record set in 2017 by more than 50%. Compared to the previous record set in 2022, the event’s viewership increased by 52%.

The 2023 Royal Rumble also shattered records for venue merchandising and sponsorship. Compared to the record achieved in 2022, merchandise sales increased 135 percent. The Royal Rumble featured the first-ever sponsored match (MTN DEW PITCH BLACK) and sponsored countdown clock (Applebee’s), with sponsorship money roughly doubling from 2022 to this year.

The Roman Reigns-Sami Zayn videos became the most watched WWE clip of 2023 after garnering over 20 million views on social media. Additional highlights include the high-flying collision between Logan Paul and Ricochet, which received 26.5 million views across all platforms used by WWE and Paul, and the debut of Reigns’ TikTok account, which attracted 100K followers in its first day.
