‘Smallwood’ & ‘Good Sam’ Ordered to Series by CBS

CBS has added one comedy and one show to its fall TV lineup, with series orders for “Smallwood” and “Great Sam.”

“Smallwood,” based on the real-life story of professional bowler Tom Smallwood, stars Pete Holmes, Chi McBride and Katie Lowes. Imprint Gross is executive producing and writing, with David Hollander and Brian D’Arcy James also exec producing and Mark Cendrowski directing. The parody follows an apparently ordinary man who, subsequent to being laid off from his sequential construction line job at the GM factory, chooses to accommodate his family by pursuing after his dream of becoming a pro bowler.

“Good Sam,” in the mean time, stars Sophia Bush, Jason Isaacs, Edwin Hodge, Skye P. Marshall, Michael Stahl-David, Davi Santos, Omar Maskati and Wendy Crewson. Katie Welch is executive producing and writing, with Jennie Snyder Urman likewise serving in as executive producer and Joanna Klein executive delivering for Sutton St. Productions. Tamra Davis is exec producing and directing the pilot. The drama series is centered on a talented yet stifled surgeon who steps into a leadership role after her renowned, pompous boss falls into a state of coma. At the point when he awakens from his coma and looks to get back to work, “it falls to her to supervise this overbearing blowhard who never acknowledged her talents – and also happens to be her father.”

The comedy and drama, both produced by CBS Studios, join various different shows that CBS has already ordered to series for the 2021-2022 broadcast season: “CSI” sequel “CSI: Vegas,” Dick Wolf and Universal TV’s “FBI: International,” “NCIS: Hawai’i,” as well as single-camera comedy “Ghosts.”
