Riot Games’ intellectual property is allegedly being auctioned for $1,000,000 with the source code for League of Legends being held for ransom

The notorious hacker is now auctioning it off for $1,000,000 as a starting price after Riot Games publicly acknowledged that the source code for its main products, League of Legends, TFT, and Legacy anti-cheat framework, had been stolen.

The transaction was publicised by the hacker “Arka” or “ArkaT” on a well-known website that trades in stolen data. As evidence of the sale, they offered a sizable PDF file including all the directories and data allegedly taken from Riot Games.

On January 21, Riot Games publicly acknowledged that it had been the target of a social engineering operation in which the intruders had obtained the source codes for League of Legends, TFT, and the Legacy anti-cheat framework.

The hacker’s primary goal, according to the ransom message, is financial gain; they have no desire to harm Riot Games’ name. Additionally, they cautioned that the hacked data will become public after 12 hours.
