Kantara, a movie by Rishab Shetty, will be released on OTT

The Kannada film Kantara, with Rishab Shetty playing the major role, is slated to stream on Amazon Prime Video and is one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. The movie will start streaming on November 24, and it’s still doing well at the box office.

The story of Kantara centres on a small group of people who reside in the Kaadubettu forests in the southern coastal state of Karnataka. Shiva, a rebel, defends his tribe and environment in a fight between good and evil powers that results in death and war. The movie, which debuted in theatres on September 30, has already surpassed the $400 million mark worldwide.

The movie’s director, Rishab Shetty, commented on Kantara’s release on Amazon Prime Video in a statement, saying, “Audiences from all over the country have shown immense love to Kantara and I am extremely excited that with its global digital premiere on Prime Video we will be able to take our labour of love and hard work to a wider audience worldwide. Although the story is universally appealing, the local character of the plot will keep viewers interested all the way through.

After its successful release in Kannada, Kantara was later dubbed in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam, resulting in its popularity across the country. The film is bankrolled by Hombale Films.
