India, Israel, US, UAE are I2U2 meet in July: Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend virtually

A senior US administration official told journalists in a background call Tuesday that the new gathering will be classified “I2U2” — “I” for India and Israel and “U” for the US and UAE.

US President Joe Biden will have a virtual summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Israel Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and UAE President Mohammed canister Zayed Al Nahyan during his visit to West Asia from July 13 to 16.

PM Narendra Modi will take part in the summit virtually of the quadrilateral financial discussion containing India, Israel, UAE and the US, described by Washington as ‘I2U2’.

During US president Joe Biden’s first trip to Israel, the West Bank and Saudi Arabia, from July 13-16, PM Narendra Modi will take part in I2U2 virtual summit alongside Israeli prime minister Naftali Bennett, UAE president Mohamed bin Zayed, a US official said on Tuesday.

“The visit will focus on Israel’s rising joining into the region, both through Abraham Accords with UAE, Morocco, and Bahrain; through developing ties between Israel, Jordan and Egypt; and furthermore, a completely new groupings of partners, including Israel, India, UAE, and the US, what we call I2U2.Importantly, a portion of these new partnerships arrive beyond the Middle East, and in such manner, the President will hold a virtual summit with I2U2 heads of state for conversations of the food security emergency and other areas of cooperation across hemispheres where UAE and Israel serve as important innovation hubs,”,” the authority said, adding “The President looks forward to this novel commitment with Prime Minister Bennett of Israel, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India, and President Mohammed bin Zayed of the UAE.”

The India-Israel-US-UAE gathering, which met interestingly under another framework in October 2021, managed issues concerning maritime security, infrastructure, computerized framework and transport. Around then, Ahmed Albanna, Ambassador of UAE to India, had referred to the new gathering as the ‘West Asian Quad’.

The Biden organization has launched or upgraded a few multilateral drives since January 2021 including the Quad (India, US, Japan and Australia), AUKUS (Australia, UK and US) and a Quadrilateral dialogue with Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
