HHRD Emergency Relief Services In Afghanistan

The damage and flooding caused by the monsoon season in South Asian countries are vast and widespread, Afghanistan is no exception. In August 2020, a sequence of severe flooding triggered by torrential downpours happened in Afghanistan. The severe flooding left around 190 people dead with more than 250 injured and countless houses destroyed. Afghanistan’s Ministry of Disaster Management also confirmed a few fatalities and infrastructure losses in the provinces of Kapisa, MaidanWardak, Nangarhar, Panjshir, and Paktia. With 93 fatalities, 80 injured, and around 70 homes severely damaged, Charikar city in Parwan Province was the most affected region.  The current ongoing conflict in Afghanistan has hampered rescue operations in the region as the delivery of relief services was not possible in some areas due to constant war.

HHRD’s Emergency Relief Services in The Region

Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) is a worldwide humanitarian organization that has been efficiently responding to human suffering in crisis and tragic circumstances around the globe, irrespective of race, gender, ethnicity, class, and religion. They have provided aid and relief to thousands of people and regions in times of emergency and calamities. Over the past few years, HHRD has earned a high reputation which enabled the organization to win the trust of US donors and people all over the globe.

HHRD stepped forward to respond to the massive damage and loss caused by severe flooding in Afghanistan. Their teams efficiently distributed cooked packaged meals and clean bottled water to around 200 affected families. Their workers even helped people clear dirt and other debris from their houses as well. As the cleanup process speeds up, HHRD plans to supply dry food rations to more than 900 affected families as people will soon be in a position to cook and prepare their meals. Their teams are also planning to distribute kitchen utensils to affected households to ensure the availability of safe and healthy meals.

Massive floods and accumulation of floodwater here and there contaminated the local source of water in many affected areas of Afghanistan. Although the netizens are waiting for the government to rehabilitate it, HHRD’s teams brought in clean water and distributed many bottles of mineral water amongst the vulnerable families. More than 200 families were provided access to clean and safe drinking water through water trucks. There is a lot more rehabilitation and repair work that needs to be done. The infrastructure loss is quite huge and requires financial aid as well as on-ground workers for immediate repair.
