Cookie Monsta: Popular Dubstep DJ Star, dies at 31

Popular Dubstep DJ Cookie Monsta has passed on, his record mark Circus Records declared Friday. Conceived Tony Cook, the Nottingham, UK-local artist, referred to for tracks, for example, “Ruff” and “Blurgh,” was 31.

No reason for death was given in the announcement.

“Our beloved Tony Cook (aka Cookie Monsta) has left us,” the label wrote in a Twitter post. “We are devastated, no words can contain our feelings on such a day.”

“All of our thoughts go to Tony’s family, friends and our heart especially goes out to Tony’s son Olly, the Mini Monsta,” the tweet continued. “The world will miss you Cookie, we will miss you brother.”

The mark included that it would not remark further “out of respect for Tony’s family.”

In May 2019, Cookie Monsta educated fans that he was “struggling with mental health issues,” which incited him to drop his visit at that point.

“For the past year I’ve been struggling with mental health issues, over the recent weeks and months this has become harder than ever,” he wrote on Facebook. “I’ve not been online recently as I’ve been trying to work through my problems away from the glare of social media. Unfortunately I’ve not made as much progress as I’d hoped, so I’ve decided that I need to take a longer break from the scene.”

He added: “I will continue making and releasing music, beyond that I look forward to being back out to see you soon when I’m better.”

A couple of months after the fact in August a year ago, he composed on Instagram that he was “in a better place.” In March this year, he shared a photograph of himself playing a sold-out show at the Hollywood Palladium and prodded new remixes in an August post.

Treat Monsta has been performing under the moniker since 2008, as per his Spotify bio. He delivered his first mixtape, “Maryland Chocolate Chip Mix,” that year, trailed by his first album, “Riot!,” in 2012.
